Aishwarya Rai looks regal at the premiere of Robin Hood held at the Palais des Festivals during the 2010 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (May 12) in Cannes, France.

The 36-year-old Indian actress wore a violet blue fully embroidered tulle and mousseline gown from Elie Saab.

MIA was director Ridley Scott, who released this statement, “It is with the most sincere regret that I am required to miss the opening night… I recently underwent knee replacement surgery and my recovery has been slower than I’d hoped. Truly, doctor’s orders are the only thing that could keep me from being there. My disappointment is tempered by the fact that Brian, Russell, Cate and the rest of the cast will be on hand to represent the film. I send them all my best wishes in opening this year’s Festival with our film.”

says, “When a girl comes into another family it is her responsibility to keep up to the family status. So yes! Like any other married ladies she too is professional.

She has to become even more mature after getting married.”

“My professional and family liabilities are different but I need to handle both with enough care to strike a balance between the two. I am also luck y to have got married into a family who have supported me and my career fully well.”

While Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan draped in a glittery white sari with red border not only added a serene look to her beauty but added loads of charm to her persona. Ash literary seems to be in awe with Mani Ratnam who launched her in Iruvar in 1997. “I must thank and credit Mani sir for having conceptualized this awesome character for me. I had it all for me.

My character Ragini has to perform dances, stunts as well as facing the brunt of the weird character 'Raavan'. Believe me; I had to perform in the dense, dark and a dangerous forest crawling with snakes, leeches and all the possible creepy critters.

Mani sir would wake us up at sharp 5a.m. All of us would go on a Reiki and come back by eight and had to be ready for our first shot. Mani sir is so polite he would always say 'be your real self'.

Aishwarya RaiWorld beauty Aishwarya Rai says that even though she is not fluent enough to have a conversation in Tamil, she has gained more confidence in the language thanks to the bi-lingual venture, ‘Raavan’ by Mani Ratnam. She said shecannot break into a conversation in the language, "But, with Raavan, Mani (director) has boosted my confidence in Tamil."

Ash has been working simultaneously on both the versions. She said, “It was scary. I felt I was giving my final exams. Sometimes there would be last minute changes and it was chaotic. So, Mani gave me the scenes on location itself. Besides, I had to learn the lines of my co-star too.”

Aishwarya also expressed her delight on having bagged the part. She said she was more than happy that she got the opportunity to play “Ragini”. Ash said, “Ragini is earthy, rooted, fiesty, fiery, vulnerable and emotional. She draws her strength from within.” She said that ‘Ragini’ is one who connects with everyone irrespective of who they are and where they belong. She said, “I felt completely related to the character as she stands out as a woman who is special.”

Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai says that working on Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously has boosted her confidence in the language.

“I felt completely related to the character as she stands out as a woman who is special,” Rai said.

Aishwarya is starring opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikanth in ‘Endhiran: The Robot’ The actress indicated that she is open to more offers in Tamil.
